Passing Time

Passing Time is a simple installation intended to create an intersection between the Quaker, Jewish and Zen Buddhist faiths. The video was shot on the location of the Quaker Meeting House frequented by President Herbert Hoover when he was a boy in West Branch, Iowa. Hoover credited the hours spent sitting in silence there as helping him stay centered and have patience in times of stress in the demanding office of president. The piece is intended as part of an installation on the site of a former Jewish hospital. The viewer would be invited to sit on an original bench which was located in the temple there. This footage for this pieces was created during an artist residency with the National Park Service.
